Trail: Iron Mountain

Brief Description:
One of San Diego's most popular hikes, the Iron Mountain Trail leads to the second highest peak in Poway and offers great views of Northern San Diego County. On a clear day, hikers can see Mt. Woodson as well as the Catalina Islands.
Distance: 5.6 miles, approx. hike time 3 hours (roundtrip)
What to bring?
Must haves: Sturdy shoes and at least 1L of water you can carry during the hike. A snack for the trail (we will take a snack break at the top)
Optional Items: a camelpak or small backpack to carry water. A camera (or your phone). Trekking poles if you need/want to use them.
Guests? Kids? Spouses?
Since this is a holiday weekend, please feel free to bring guests (spouses, parents, cousins, teenagers, etc.) but keep in mind the guests must be able to handle this moderate/hard trail.
Please no small children, if they are not able to keep up with an adult group of hikers, please leave them at home. If you have family in town this hike is an opportunity give those relatives a little time with your sweet angels while you get to enjoy adult time.
What NOT to bring?
1. Pets. No dogs on the group hikes for the comfort of everyone
